About Agarwood Value Addition Service
Grading and sorting
This service assesses raw agarwood based on its resin content, oil density, and aroma to classify it into different grades.
Process: Experienced graders inspect and categorize the wood. For oil extraction, they sort lower-grade chips and powder. For incense and carvings, they identify high-density, resin-rich pieces.
Benefit: Proper grading ensures that the right raw materials are used for specific value-added products, maximizing the potential revenue from a harvest.
Distillation for essential oil (Oud)
This is the most common and valuable value addition process, turning agarwood chips into highly sought-after Oud oil.
Process:
The wood is ground into a coarse powder.
The powder is soaked in water for several weeks, initiating fermentation.
The mixture is boiled using hydro-distillation, and the aromatic steam is captured and condensed.
The oil and hydrosol are separated, and the Oud oil is aged for a rich, complex aroma.
